He was predeceased by: his father Kenneth Hughes; his brother Jerry Hughes; and his in-laws, J. C. and Mary Jenkins. He is survived by: his wife Penny Hughes; his children, Misty Ford (Joshua) and Jay Wilder; his grandchildren, Destini Coy (Dalton) and Juliana Fernandez (Conner); his great grandchildren, River Kilby, Trinity Fernandez and Slayvana Fernandez; his mother Nancy Hughes; and his siblings, David Hughes, David Miller, Jeffery Thompson and Teresa Thomas. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Manley Baptist Church (3603 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, TN 37814). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery (2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37914).
