She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Boyd and Effie Caton Boyd King (Clark King Sr.); her husband Richard Thornton; her son Michael Thornton; and her sisters, Alice Reynolds, Brenda Cole (Kenneth) and Carolyn Powell.

She is survived by: her children, Phyllis Crenshaw (Gordon), Ronny Thornton (Sally) and Mark Thornton; her sisters, Melba Garner (Emerson) and Debra Taylor (Earl); her half-sisters, Marilyn King and Carolyn King; her stepbrothers, Clark King Jr., Lamar King, William King and Dr. Elton King; her grandchildren, Brent Thornton, Christopher Crenshaw (Cortney), Nick Crenshaw, Al Thornton (Chasity) and Amber Tritt (Darrin); and her great great grandchildren, Mykayla Crenshaw, Emily Kail, Ellis Thornton, Thornton Tritt, Crew Tritt, Harrison Crenshaw, Jayson Crenshaw and Arabella Banfield. She is also survived by nieces & nephews.
