He was predeceased by: his father Grady Thompson; and his wife Sharon Thompson (Mathis). He is survived by: his mother Paula Jean Thompson (Parker) of Troy; his daughter Aimee; his son-in-law Blake Cheatham of Union City; his son Cory; his daughter-in-law Ashley Thompson of Kenton; his siblings, Betty Cloar (Johnny) of Hornbeak, Lisa Williams (Bobby) of Union City, Larry Thompson (Jana) of Union City, Robin Thompson of Union City and Paul Thompson (Cindy) of Union City; and his grandchildren, Madikate Cheatham of Union City, Coleman Cheatham of Union City, Adley Thompson of Kenton and Linley Thompson of Kenton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery (1477 Mt Moriah Rd, Troy, TN 38260).
