He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Mead and Clara Hope Held Mead; his daughter Lydia Jean Mead; and his siblings, James F., Lewis Elver, Robert E., Richard A., Edward J. Jr., Paul G., Carl A, Gerald D. and Rosemary Cocker.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Carter Mead of Tullahoma; his son Richard M. Mead (Kim); his grandsons, Kevin D. and David R. (Emily); and his sister Juanita Leary of Ben Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
