He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Virgil and Lela Jones Sawyers; and his siblings, Wanda Hudson, Sadie Garrett, Virgil Sawyers, Larry Sawyers, Betty Gordon and Brenda Cowart.
He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Sawyers (Scott), Jeffrey Sawyers, Brian Sawyers, Jennifer Sullivan and Francis Marie Steele; and his brother Billy "Bobby" Sawyers (Rosalie). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
