With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jodie Tipton of Unicoi, Tennessee, born in Erwin, Tennessee, who passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Mathes and Thelma Higgins Mathes; her husband Steven Tipton; and her siblings, Wayne, Thomas Mathes and Brenda Luttrell.
She is survived by: her son Anthony Hutchins (Traci) of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Meghan Hutchins (Michael Goldsberry) and Lexi Hutchins; her stepgrandson Dustin Shipley; her great grandchildren, Kalynn and Jayde McClain; her sisters, Shirley Lusk of Erwin, Norma Adkins (Richard) of Erwin and Danielle Buck (Josh) of Erwin; her stepdaughters, Stephanie Edenfield (James) of Erwin and Tracy Tipton of Erwin; and her pet Daisy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
