He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark, Sr. Clark and Sarah Rice Clark; his wife Janie Street Clark; his daughter Imalou Clark; his grandson Wesley Wheeler; his siblings, D. "Old Joe" Clark, Jr., Horace Clark, Deward Clark, Howard Clark and Imogene Clark; and his son-in-law Butch Wheeler.

He is survived by: his daughters, Ruth Marie Wheeler of Louisville, Elizabeth "Libby" McCready (Dudley) of Erwin and Glenna "Gwen" Lewis (Wayne) of Unicoi; his grandchildren, Kim Wheeler and Staci Webb (Phillip); his great grandchildren, Isabella Webb, Sophia Webb and Brittany Hawkins (Brett); and his great great grandchild Bellamy Hawkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
