He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leroy Wright and Ethel Pearl Reed Wright. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Bumgardner Wright; his children, Samuel Mitchell Wright Jr. (Keri), David Lee Wright (Stephanie), Timothy Eric Wright (Christina) of Wartrace and Melissa Gail Gandarilla (Rafael) of Tullahoma; his grandchildren, Sammy Wright III, Kelli Grace Wright, Addyson Wright, Abby, Ally Wright, Emalee Wright, Timothy Wright Jr., Rafael Gandarilla, Ezekiel Gandarilla, Cristian Gandarilla and Leo Gandarilla; and his great grandchildren, Millie Narramore and Carben Narramore.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Funeral Home (1802 Madison St, Shelbyville, TN 37160). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
