It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Charles Atkinson of Waverly, Tennessee, who passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. As James Charles departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved James Charles. Though James Charles may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William Atkinson and Dorothy Waldrep Atkinson; and his wife Michelle Atkinson. He is survived by: his son Charlie Atkinson (Jordan); his siblings' children, Mark Atkinson, Jim, John Jordan, Sarah Kiser Holly Bemis and Miranda Moore; and his siblings, John Atkinson (Marla) and Elizabeth Jordan (Tom).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home (2400 TN-13, Waverly, TN 37185). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
