He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Helton and Lorene Caton Helton; his brother James Caton Helton; and his grandparents, Henry Allen, Emily Helton, Arthur B. and Ethel Caton.

He is survived by: his sister Linda Helton Tripp of Nashville, TN; and his sibling's children, Eddie Tripp of Nashville, TN, Jim Helton of Muncie, IL, Janet Tripp Chapman (Tim) of Foley, AL and Lily Stafford (Paul) of Natick, MA..
