She was predeceased by: her husband Woodrow Hunter; her siblings, Helen Dozier, Raymond Gill, David Gill and Hollis Gill; and her parents, James Ervin Gill and Ettie Mae Osborne Gill.
She is survived by: her children, John Hunter (Nancy Hunter) and Shirley Ponder (Jay Ponder); her grandchildren, Melissa Hunter-Hines (Allen Hines), Jeffrey Hunter (Brandy Hunter), Bradley Ponder and Ryan Ponder (Rukshinie Fernando-Ponder); and her great grandchildren, Collin Hines, Grant Hunter, Holly Hines and Emmy Hunter. She is also survived by "Mom" to her children and "Granny" or "Granny Dorothy" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the White Bluff Church of Christ (4416 US-70, White Bluff, TN 37187). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
