He was predeceased by : his parents, Perkins Dickens and Bevie Dickens; his wife Patty Ann; his son Richard Owen Dickens; his brothers, Truman, Joe and Billy Dickens; and also Christine Gregory.

He is survived by : his daughter Sandra Stanley; his grandchildren, Jackie Yarbrough (Kevin) and Jay Stanley (Avery); his great grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Stanley, Jake Yarbrough and Kyle Yarbrough; and his sister Nancy Durham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other beloved extended family and dear friends.
