He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Tate and Virginia Tate. He is survived by: his siblings, Diane West (Paul), Ronnie (Andrea) and Joy Haneline; his uncle John Kelley; and his aunt Joyce Leftwich. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
