He was predeceased by: his parents, George Mickel and Elsie Mickel; and his siblings, Kenneth Mickel, Clarence Mickel, Marvin Mickel, Clyde Mickel, Bobby Mickel, Myrtice Peavyhouse, Melrose Mickel, Willie Mae Swafford and Georgia Locke.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cindy McCurry (Kendall) and Tonya McNeece (Justin); his grandchildren, Preston McCurry, Kinsley McCurry and Cullen McNeece; his girlfriend Lisa Murray; his siblings, Felix Mickel, Jim Mickel (Sandra), Rick Mickel (Yvonne), Sam Mickel (Virginia) and Lois Coppinger (Jeff); and his extended family, Hunter, Maggie Murray, Cory, Kaley Murray and Bryson Murray. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Gene requested donations to be made at Citizens Tri County Bank for his grandchildren.
