She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas Ras Cooley; her granddaughter Tasha Michelle Higgins; her parents, James Alfred Burgess and Lillie Dodson Burgess; her brothers, James Richard Burgess, Joseph Roscoe Burgess and Roy Franklin Burgess; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Burgess and Ruth Burgess.
She is survived by: her daughters, Meshelle Higgins (Danny Atterton) of Whitwell and Rachael Nunley (Bo) of Whitwell; her grandchildren, Austin Nunley (Amber), Evan Nunley (Reagan Hansard) and Ashley Higgins (Parker Griffith); her great grandchild Ellison Jane Nunley; her sisters, Faye Ross, Lou Alice Renegar, Dorthy Burgess and June Burgess Blalock; and her sister-in-law Joyce Ann Burgess.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. (795 Morrison Springs Rd, Whitwell, TN 37397). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
