He is survived by: his wife Karen J. Merritt of Whitwell; his children, Joy Merritt Martin of Hixson, Ivy Murphree of Flat Rock and Daniel Merritt of Whitwell; his grandchildren, Derek Lee, Dylan Lee, Dustin Lee, Madison Poppen, John Linger, Carrie Murphree and Jacob Murphree; and his great grandchildren, Amelia Murphree and Andrew Murphree.
