He was predeceased by: his parent Rally Harwell; his brothers, Douglas Harwell and Bobby Harwell; his stepson Gary Taylor; his grandson Garrett Eakes; and his mother-in-law Glada Bloom.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Harwell; his children, Kala Harwell (Steve Honea), Ginger Harwell and Patrick Harwell; his stepdaughter Christie Taylor; his grandchildren, Katelyn Allen (Cody), Cameron Harwell, Kiley Harwell, Rebekah Harwell and Ashlee Conkey (Zach); his great grandchildren, Cash Presley, Hank Allen and Everlee Conkey; and his siblings, Martha Lynn O'Neal, Mary Jo Owens and Phillip Harwell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
