He was predeceased by: his parents, Clennon Alton Steele and Mary Faye Steele (Stephens); his brothers, Ben Alton Steele, Hershel Gene, William Adrain Steele and Harold Monroe Steele; and his nephews, Alton Steele and Ray Taylor.

He is survived by: his siblings, Phyllis Ann Riddle of Winchester, Wayne Steele of Decherd, Kenneth Steele (Lena) of Keith Springs and Sherman Steele (Ann) of Keith Springs; his stepsister Margaret Bland of Winchester; and his sisters-in-law, Vanessa Steele of Winchester and Sandy Steele of Decherd. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
