He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Garner and Marjorie Vaught Maxwell; his brother Johnny Ray Maxwell; and his in-laws, Keith Perry, McQuade, Ruth Armstrong, Norman, Lois Armstrong Sissom and Donald Sherrell.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Beth Armstrong Maxwell of Woodbury; his daughters, Susan Knox (Chris) of Murfreesboro and Jennifer Gay (Daryl) of Smithville; his granddaughters, Natalie Rogers (Kyle), Ashlyn and Allison Gay; his siblings, Jerry Maxwell (Debbie) of Murfreesboro and Deloris Perry; and his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Maxwell of Lascassas and Linda Armstrong of Woodbury. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Church of Christ and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
