He is survived by: his wife Gabriela Mendez; his children, Monique Mendez of Abernathy, Melanie Mendez of Abernathy and Michael Mendez (Anjelica Mendez) of South Korea; his grandchildren, Giselle Mendez, Gabriela Cruz, Giana Leon, Rafael Berrios, Araceli Mendez and Michael Rafael Mendez; his great grandchild Gianni Mendez; his siblings, Regina Lopez, Gloria Rios, Alfonso Mendez, Rosa Chavez and Juan Mendez; and his friends, Jesse Benitez, Richard Pena and Irma Pena. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.
Viewing was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Isidore Catholic Church (17813 I-27, Abernathy, TX 79311). A rosary was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 12:45 PM at the West Texas Veteran Cemetery (4614 E 50th St, Lubbock, TX 79403).
