He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Saunders and Florence Saunders; his former wife Inez Hammett of Odessa, TX.; his son Ted Saunders; his niece Gail Bailey; and his granddaughter Kristi Saunders of Godley, Texas..

He is survived by: his children, Lois, Wanda, Merle of Albert, A. V., Aubrey, Billy Mac, Donnie, Carl, Guy and Micah Saunders; his wife Norma Smith of Hawley, TX.; his close friends, Teri, Bobby Wilson, Laurie Smith, Mike, Mona Smith, Allen and Betty Smith; his grandsons, David Saunders and Clint Saunders; Bobby Phillips, Andrew, Tyler, Kalyn and Cheyenne.
