He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gober and Ruby McClellan; and his sister Mary Ann McClellan. He is survived by: his wife Sharron Elaine (Hinton); his children, Eric McClellan (Amy), Kristin Ashby (Jim), Brandon McClellan and Rachel Walders (Larry); his grandchildren, Dylan Cheek, Daniel, Deric McClellan, Katherine, James III, Madeleine, Zaidee, Quinten Ashby, Abigail and Westin Walders; and his sister Margaret Earnest (Robert). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hendrick Home for Children or Ben Richey Boys Ranch.
