We announce the death of Rita Edwards of Abilene, Texas, who passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 97. She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Dixon and Lehman Dixon; her husband Ellison Edwards; her son Joe Edwards; her brother J. T. Dixon; and her daughter-in-law Cathy McCleary.
She is survived by: her children, Lee Ann Edwards and Dale Edwards (Rosemary); her grandchildren, Melissa Powell (Jim) of Benbrook, Texas, Michael Harding (Amanda) of Fort Worth, Texas, Anna-Kate Mathis (Travis) of Abilene, Texas, Kelli Esposito (Zac) of Arlington, Texas, Jordan Graves (Chris) of Burleson, Texas, Scott Weldon (Robbi) of Abilene, Texas and Justin Weldon (Erin) of Abilene, Texas.; her great grandchildren, Jacob Hovey (Kinnia Black), Josie Hovey, Layla, Jude, Crosby Mathis, Heidi Weldon, Rocco, Austin Esposito, Ty, Logan Graves, Isaac, Brooke and Ella Harding; and her granddaughter Molly McCleary.
