With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Russel Eugene Higgins of Abilene, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 31, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Jane Duncan Higgins; his siblings, Geneva Rodgers, Ruby Morehead, Lucille Profitt, Elizabeth Barwick, Charles Higgins, Marjorie Olsen and Frances Millican; and his nephew Jim Cox III.
He is survived by: his parent Edd Carter Higgins; his wife Amy (Hoff); his pet Dottie; his children, Russ (Sandy Higgins), Cynthia Spraberry and Janet (Leon Giesecke); and his grandchildren, Amy (Scott Stoky), Hannah Higgins (Devon Purslow), Carter Higgins, James Ward, Connor Spraberry, Nat Giesecke and Jared Giesecke (Samantha). He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, and many dear friends.
