He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Bob Estes and Lucille Estes (McCaleb); his brother Dr. Bobby Jack Estes; and his sister-in-law Lale Estes. He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Jean Estes; his sons, Bob of Austin and Jay (Traci) of Melissa; his grandchildren, Paige Estes and Jack Estes; his sister Barbara (Win McCombs) of Fort Worth; and his siblings-in-law, Cathy and Charles Morris of Allen. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
