He was predeceased by: his mother Manuela Loa Mendiola; his daughter Lisa Ann Jackson Mendiola; and his siblings, Carmen, Beatrice, Lucy, Awdon, Mike, Juan, Merced Jr. and Carlos Barrera.
He is survived by: his parent Merced Mendiola Sr.; his wife Adelina Mendiola; his daughter Debora "Dolly" Garcia; his son-in-law John Garcia; his son Brandon Merced Mendiola; and his grandchildren, Kyle Carter, Kayla Carter and Eric Sabr Vicente Mendiola. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a GoFundMe to assist with the cost of Jose's headstone.
