He was predeceased by: his wife Petra Gallegos Chapa; his parents, Telesforo Chapa and Felipa Chapa; and his children, Rodolfo "Rudy" Chapa, Imelda Rodriguez and Elva Chapa.
He is survived by: his close friend Olga Buentello; his children, Manuel "Yogi" Chapa Jr. (Debbie), Anna Arredondo, Nora Carrillo, Rosa Garza (Isidro), Ricky Arredondo, Rene Arredondo (Stephanie), Vianna Saenz (Hector), Fabian Arredondo (Denise) and Liana Jo Chapa; his siblings, Mary Ann Alcala (Robert), Joe Curiel, Ciria Martinez (Sara), Herminia Gutierrez (Minnie), Emma Perez, Lionel Chapa, Rocky Martinez and Angelita De Los Santos; and his grandchildren, Tejano, Danny Rubio, Ruben Naranjo, Roberto Pulido, Victor Rodriguez, Rudy Chapa, Michael Chapa, Cosme Ramirez, Oness Garza and Isidro Garza III. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Treviño Funeral Home (120 E Front St, Alice, TX 78332). A rosary was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Trevino Funeral Home (120 E Front St, Alice, TX 78332). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (1010 Beam Station Rd, Alice, TX 78332). A burial was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Roberson Collins Cemetery.
