He was predeceased by: his parents, Santos Benavides and Carolina M. Benavides; his wife Aracelia H. "Chela" Benavides; and his siblings, Maria, Gilberto, Santos, Baldemar, Eva, Gloria and O. M. "Tano".
He is survived by: his children, Ruben Benavides (Priscilla), Ricardo Benavides (Marisa) and Nancy Treviño (Jerry); his grandchildren, Daniel Benavides (Kristina), Marcos Benavides, Ryan Treviño (Kiara), Natalie Treviño and Aaron Benavides; his great grandchildren, Noah Benavides, Sofia Benavides and Apollo Treviño; his brother Juvenal Benavides; and his sisters-in-law, Nelda Benavides and Gloria Hinojosa. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Mauro P. Garcia Chapel in Alice, Texas (600 S Wright St, Alice, TX 78332). A rosary was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church (401 S Victoria St, San Diego, TX 78384). A burial will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at the San Diego Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Corpus Christi Cathedral, St. Joseph Catholic Church (Alice), or St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church (San Diego).
