He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Staten and Bertha Staten; and his siblings, Learah Staten and Bert Staten. He is survived by: his wife Lori Staten of Coyanosa, TX; his stepson Matthew Crigger (Tracy) of Alpine, TX; his brother Mark Staten of Victoria, TX; and his grandchildren, Koda Crigger, Della-Noelle Crigger and Jacqueline Ladewig.

He remained very active, always helping others before himself, until becoming ill with Alzheimer's.
