He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston Milstead and Gladys Milstead; his wife Susan Vaughn Milstead; and his brothers, Gene Milstead and Quentin Milstead.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lynda Langham (Ken), Tammy Milstead Ham and Jerri Hagler (Scott); his sister Gwyn Nix; his sister-in-law Martha Milstead; his grandchildren, Jeff Langham (Laura), Carrie Langham-Cedillo (Evelio), Brett Vardeman (Cristal), Houston Hagler (Maggie), Delanie Hagler, Christian Hagler, Mason Hagler and Benjamin Hagler; and his stepgrandchildren, Danielle Beck (Gary), Nicholas Hagler (Marty) and Sally Smith (Kyle). He is also survived by his fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
