He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Bell (McKinney) and William Daniel Barton; his stepfather Charlie Newland; and his siblings, Raymond Smitherman, Johnnie Smitherman and Nell Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Barton (Wilson) of Alto; his sons, Thomas Edward Barton, William Daniel Barton (Kimberly) and John Barton (Emily); and his grandchildren, Cayden Barton, Bryleigh Barton, Thomas, Barton, Rose Marie Barton and Shelby Hill. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carroway Funeral Home (2704 S John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
