He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Ortega (Jimenez) and Jose L. Ortega; his daughter Rhoda Thalia Ortega; and his brothers, Joe J. Ortega, Gilbert J. Ortega and Amador Ortega.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ortega; his son Barret Ortega; his grandchildren, Tristen Ortega and Bryant Ortega; his siblings, Jane Garcia (Jesse Jr.), Sylvia Ramirez (Mando), Albert Ortega (Evelyn) and Ida Saavedra (Arnold); his aunt Mary; and his uncle Joe Verastegui. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
