He was predeceased by: his mother Jean Morgan. He is survived by: his wife Dianna; his children, Richard William Hunter III (Rick) and Carrie Hunter Parker (Michael Parker); and his siblings, Susan Evans, Coleen Hunter (Wink) and Billy Beggs. He is also survived by three children.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Richard's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.
