He was predeceased by: his parents, Lacy Markus and Anna Basden; his former wife Geraldine Basden; his son Kevin Lee Basden; and his siblings, Jerry Don Basden, Verneal Walker, Ima Jean Barnum and Junior Basden.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine "Jeri" Neihert; his daughters, Ronni Lynn Dial of Amarillo and Marsha Evans-Williams (Michael) of Tucson, Arizona.; his grandchildren, Cameron Dial, Ana Dreadin, Dylan Greer, Seth Williams, Jayme Estrada and Tyler Evans-Williams; his brother Sonny Basden (Eve); his friend Fletcher Prestridge; and his pet Otis. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Interim Hospice.
