He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Note and Alicia Van Note (Doan); and his brothers, Roberts and William. He is survived by: his son Richard Van Note (Janice) of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Rhian Glover of Amarillo, Jessica Van Note of Cedar Rapids and Christian Van Note of Amarillo; and his great grandchild Lindie Glover of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, Gerald requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in honor of USMC Sergeant Gerald Eugene Van Note.
