It is with sadness that the passing of Jerry Layne Hughes of Amarillo, Texas is shared. Jerry, born on March 16, 1950, passed away on October 10, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Albert and Allie Evelyn Arledge Hughes; and his siblings, Bill Hughes, John Wayne Hughes, Betty and Judy.

He is survived by: his wife Charlene Hughes; his children, Melissa Tinney and David Gilbreath (Sabrina); and his grandchildren, Zadie, Tonia, Michelle, Michael, Tisha, Tanya, Brooke, Devan, David and Amanda. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Schooler Funeral Home (4100 S Georgia St, Amarillo, TX 79110).
