He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Russell and Dica Lavauda McDaniel (Oldham); and his brothers, Clarence and Charles. He is survived by: his significant other Julia Annette Massingill; his children, John Jr. (Crissy) of Amarillo, Texas and Jamie Savage (Don) of Lubbock, Texas.; his grandchildren, Nolan Savage (Payton) of Pensacola, Florida, Elizabeth Holland (Heath) of Rockwall, Texas, Grant Savage (Bailee) of Lubbock, Texas, Meredith Parma (Mitch) of Houston, Texas, Landon Savage (Karlly) of New Bern and Cole McDaniel (Bailey) of Fort Worth, Texas; and his brother Dr. James McDaniel of Lindale, Texas.. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (1208 S Tyler St, Amarillo, TX 79101).
