He is survived by: his wife Norma Contreras; his children, Melissa Carrasco, Janie Hernandez, Lupe Hernandez and Daniel Contreras; and his siblings, Susie Hernandez, Mary Watson, David Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Felix Hernandez and Fidel Hernandez. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
