He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Carter and LaVaughn Carter (Hampton); and his father-in-law James McCarley. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Carter (McCarley); his daughters, Kristi Carter Weil (Clinton) and Stacie Carter Mathis (Joshua); his grandchildren, Carter Weil, Cash Weil and Reese Mathis; his sister Debbie Pennington; his mother-in-law Ruby McCarley; his brother-in-law Steven McCarley (Clifann); his nephew Wade Pennington (Asa); and his niece Nicole McCarley Gordon (Eric). He is also survived by cousins, extended family members, and long-time friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors (2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Hillside Christian Church (6100 S Soncy Rd, Amarillo, TX 79119).
