He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Rains and Willie Mae Rains; and his siblings, Paul, Nolan, Anna and Bobbi.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Rains; his children, Elizabeth Rains and Doug Rains; his grandchildren, Danielle Mulherin (Matt) and Andrew Lookingbill (Jacqui); his great grandchildren, Dallen, Everitt and Liam; his granddaughter Isabella; and his sister Nell Rains.
