He was predeceased by: his parents, T. S. Stapleton and Anna Mae Stapleton; his wife Patsy Shearer; his daughter Diane; and his siblings, Fern Pittman and Tom Stapleton.
He is survived by: his son Dale Stapleton of Dallas; his close friends, John Todd and Kami Cornett of Amarillo; Ellie, Brock and Grant. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
