He was predeceased by : his parents, Thurman Watkins and Frances Watkins (Anderson); and his sister Margaret Fisher. He is survived by : his children, LeAnn Watkins and Wayne Watkins; his grandchildren, Coley Howell and Karissa Howell-Burden; and his sisters, Lucy Tidwell, Dot Golden (George Golden), Gayle Gann and Lisa Stephens. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
