He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin and Willie (Congressmen) of Tennessee; and his son David Oehler. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Patrick and Parker; his nephew Albert Ranzau of San Antonio; his niece Karen; his wife Jane; and his son Paul Oehler.

He was predeceased by son David (2021 COVID-19) and wife Jane (2022 Parkinson's).

He held everything together during multiple tragedies of a devastating house fire, Jane's cancer, and her Parkinson's struggles -- all while operating multiple successful companies.
