He was predeceased by: his parents, William Desmond "Doc" Thornton and Ola Mae Thornton. He is survived by: his uncle Ray Turner; his wife Barbara Gene Stringer; his children, Judy LaNell (Robert Rohlin), Belinda Jane (Stephen Thomas), Andrew Robert Thornton, Joanna Thornton and Rebecca Thornton; his foster children, Nancy Chang and Paul; his grandchildren, Melody Joy Preuninger, Richard William Rohlin, Faith Christine Allen, Grace Elizabeth Stephenson, Hope Victoria Pell, Harmony Danielle West, Arthur Frederick Rohlin, Christiana Liberty Rohlin, Christopher Dale Thomas, Krystal Michelle Hair and Celeste Faith Pell; and his family Baptist.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home (4216 S Bowen Rd, Arlington, TX 76016). A committal service will be held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bear Creek Cemetery (100 Bear Creek Cemetery Rd, Euless, TX 76039). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church (2101 S Davis Dr, Arlington, TX 76013).
