It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Pennington of Athens, Texas, who passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Noah Pennington and Blanche Pennington (Corbitt); his brother Gene; his sister-in-law Joyce Pennington; his adoptive son Randy Shelton; and his sister-in-law Linda McCollum.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Pennington of Athens; his daughters, Penny Weeks (Bill) of Stillwater and Shelly Thornhill of Houston; his adoptive daughter Janine Shelton Wheeler (Tim) of Athens; his brother-in-law David McCollum; his grandchildren, Kamle Pennington, Jerry Shelton and Mark Shelton; and his adopted families, Joe, Jeannette Loper, Mark and Debbie Hanson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
