He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Dyson and Lucille Deen Smith; his stepfather Elmer A. Smith; and his grandparents, Marion and Minne Deen.

He is survived by: his wife Candy Dyson; his brother Perry Smith (Donna); and his nephews, Jared Smith and Nathan Smith.
