He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Peter Motl and Albina Motl (Kubiana); his wife Linda Avanell Motl (Kelly); his daughter Pamela Ann Motl; his grandsons, Shannon McNew and Jeffrey McNew; and his brother Tommy Motl.
He is survived by: his children, Jeanne Baker (Alan) of Palestine, James Wayne Motl (Kimberly) of McQueeney, Gary "Shane" Motl of Murchison and Linda Luann Motl of Murchison. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel (842 NE Loop 7, Athens, TX 75752). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Education and Ministry Center (1310 S Palestine St, Athens, TX 75751).
