He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Shelton Smith. He is survived by: his son Craig Smith; his brother Jimmy Smith; his nephew Karl Cure; his great-nieces, Tonya Rutherford and Lisa Reese; his grandson Dustean Rutherford; and his great grandchildren, Madilyn and Kate Rutherford.
