It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verreice Tilley of Athens, Texas, who passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Alvin Peoples and Artie Mae Peoples (Cary); her brother Maharold Peoples Sr.; her sister-in-law Carolyn Peoples; her sister Willie Hazel Doty; and her brother-in-law Charles Doty.
She is survived by: her significant other Thomas Tilley; her children, Cynthia Calderon (Ralph), Edwina Gail Allen and Thomas Charone Tilley; her siblings, H. P. Peoples (Hallie) and Rev. James Peoples (Brenda); and her grandchildren, Candice, Kristen, Ralph, Naasson, Vania, Elizabeth of Ben, T. J., BreeAnna and Jared. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
