It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Joe Dear of Austin, Texas, who passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Donald Joe may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Donald Joe touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Denson and Vera Crosley Dear; and his wife Mary Downs. He is survived by: his daughters, Vanessa Dear Valdez (Robert) and Shelley Helyer Fortson (Kevin Fortson); his grandson Benjamin Helyer (Ann); his great grandchildren, Benedict and Felix Helyer; his stepgrandsons, Daniel Valdez (Mandi) and Josh Valdez (Phoebe); and his great grandchild Zala Ann Valdez. He is also survived by Numerous nieces and nephews.
